Music friendship between the cities of Sušice and Holstebro
In June 2024, the Douzelage Young Musicians Festival took place in Sušice, Czech Republic. It was also attended by three young musicians from Holstebro, Dagmar Høeg, Adam Harboe Karlssen and Josefine Ma Kristensen. (see The trip to Sušice that almost never was… by Mette Grith Sørensen)
At the end of September 2024, the Sušice Children Choir stayed in Holstebro for two days. Forty-two young singers and their teachers stopped here on their way to Bergen, Norway travelling to the Grieg International Choir Festival 2024.
Our Douzelage friends Ms Jette Hingebjerg and Ms Mette Grith Sørensen (and others) from Holstebro were helpful to organise accommodation, meals and concerts. At three performances – in a shopping centre, in a church and at a school, the Sušice Children Choir could revise and improve the competition repertoire as well as the compositions for non-competitive friendship concerts.
There was a very nice moment – when after the concert in the church our accordionist Marek Nauš met his friend Adam Harboe Karlssen and his family.
The choir also made a trip to the North Sea seaside in Thorsminde and visited the Strandingsmuseum St. George with an interesting multimedia exhibition about one of the biggest maritime tragedies in the area of the west coast of Jutland.
Many thanks for your hospitality, dear friends in Holstebro, we are very grateful.

ps Are you curious how the singers from Sušice succeeded in the competition in Bergen? The choir got two silver medals – in the category of Children Choirs and in the category of Vocal Ensembles.
