New Chair Education
I am an English and French teacher who has been working in Asikkala since 2000. I have always been eager to develop my skills and knowledge as a teacher and I strongly believe that teaching has been the profession for me. In addition to my teaching career I have also produced teaching material together with one of the major publishers in Finland on several occasions. However, my biggest interest nowadays lies within international networking and projects.
Douzelage is, to me, something unique and worth preserving and developing. The group of teachers that took part in the Educational Meeting in Škofja Loka this year was a thriving one. Meeting them all made me convinced that I want to do my best to promote interaction among as many teachers as possible working in various Douzelage member towns.
Briefly, as the present Chair of Education I see it essential
• to organize at least one meeting at a distance for instance in every September, which would make it possible to find possible partners for projects (e.g. Erasmus or eTwinning)
• to try to reach also those teachers who cannot attend the annual Education Meeting but who work in Douzelage member towns
• to add visibility both on social media as elsewhere, for instance the official website
• to reinforce co-operation with the Youth Meeting and the General Meeting.
