Bundoran creates European Job Initiative
The Irish Douzelage partner town of Bundoran has issued a call for seasonal and casual workers from across Europe for the busy seaside town as the tourism season for 2022 kicks off. Since the Covid-19 pandemic a shortage of hospitality workers across Ireland and Europe has become apparent with many roles available in cafes, restaurants, hotels, guesthouses and kitchens.
Bundoran’s Tourism Officer Shane Smyth explains ‘during the pandemic, many people were unable to work in the hospitality and tourism industry and had no option but to find other related work or to upskill or indeed to open their own businesses. This has left a particular shortage of staff here in Bundoran, a town that relies on tourism and hospitality as its only industry. We are now calling on people from our network of Douzelage towns across Europe who may have the skills we need and fancy a change of scene or indeed a change of country for a few months. There are many jobs which would be particularly suited to students for the summer who wish to travel and experience another European country.’
A website has been created which outlines all of the jobs that are available in the town in the near future and also for the summer season and it can be access at www.discoverbundoran.com/jobs
In the future, job opportunities will be available under the “Youth” tab on this website.
