Slaveykovi celebrations pay tribute to Bulgarian poets
Nestled in the Balkans, Tryavna attracts young and old people from near and far, even from abroad, on the traditional Slaveykovi celebrations. The feasts lasted from 2nd to 5th of June, paying tribute to the work of Petko and Pencho Slaveykovi, famous poets. They are considered to be Bulgarians of modern times, uniting the traditions of the Bulgarian Revival with the modern education and culture of Europe. The feasts are held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. The program of the holidays includes concerts, exhibitions, cultural events, which will quench every people’s thirst for culture and art. Traditionally, a book bazaar is taking place during the whole event under the colonnade of the Municipality of Tryavna.
Each year, Tryavna is inviting guests from all around Europe, where town-twinning connections are being maintained. Representatives for Douzelage were the Vice President – Miha Jese and the Youth Vice President – Evelin Koev, whose hometown had been visited. Tryavna is a great place for those who are interested in culture, traditions and crafts. People of Tryavna are perfect hosts and have plenty of tips where to spend your time in a useful, interesting and relaxing day. During the official meeting with the mayor of Tryavna, a discussion was held for the upcoming 46th General Meeting in Skofja Loka at the end of August and the rich cultural program that is expected.
